Finally, we also got started with the autumn training of our 8SeasonsHuskies. Feels great to be on the road again, but it will feel even better to be on the runners of the sled again! Until now we start in the early mornings but soon we will train in the evenings or during the nights because the moose hunters are in the forests during daylight – and we do not want to disturb them.

Even if I prefer the sled to the UTV I really enjoy autumn training, especially the camping stops in the forest at a cozy campfire.

It can rain a lot in autumn, so it´s great to have good clothes! One of our sponsors – Engelbert Strauss – supported us last year with a warm and waterproof parka, the high-vis functional parka e.s. motion 2020.

The idea was first to use the parka only during autumn training, since the visibility is quite important during that time because we train about 50% on the village roads. And I was curious until which temperature the parka would keep me warm.

I can say I was quite impressed with the parka, even in winter time. I used the parka almost on every training run and also during some races. It kept me warm until – 25 degrees, of course with woolen or down jackets and some sort of merino underwear under… The inner pockets are very practical especially that you can close them – I tend to lose things out of my pockets…

The parka is even quite windproof but the hood provides not the best protection against strong winds, but that is really the only thing I would change on that jacket.

Johanna used the parka as well a lot. On the Bergebylöpet she was again my super-handler and there she got many questions from other handlers – simply because they thought she was part of the organisation crew 🙂
